Anusha Rizvi is an Indian film director and screenwriter. She is best known for her debut feature film Peepli Live (2010), which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. Rizvi was born on 13 March 1978 in Delhi, India. She studied at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, and then went on to pursue a Masters in Film and Television from the University of Westminster in London. Rizvi began her career as a documentary filmmaker, making films for the BBC, Channel 4, and the Discovery Channel. Her first feature film, Peepli Live, was released in 2010 and was a critical and commercial success. The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. Rizvi has since directed several short films and documentaries, including the award-winning short film, The Kite (2013). She is currently working on her second feature film, which is set to be released in 2021. Rizvi is married to film producer Aamir Khan and they have two children.
